I have been around in the furry fandom for a long time, but have never really been very active in the community. I'm trying to change that! I do industrial control and automation for a living, and I try to be approachable so don't be afraid to note or shout at me. Way back, I used to do non-furry traditional media art, and after watching others create art for so long, I've decided to try my hand at character drawing. I don't feel my skill level is good enough for me to post much (yet). So I work to improve myself. I LOVE talking to artists about the process of creating art, digital art techniques and basic art principles. I enjoy watching artists stream because while we learn a lot by doing, I always learn something just by watching.
I really like cheetahs and felines, so that's what I've chosen for my character. Blame all that exposure to Khajiit in the Elder Scrolls™ games...

More License Drama

I don't know if this is a recent change or an old change that everyone is just now noticing. Every art site seems to have it's own drama (some more than others). For some reason DA-drama seems to be centered around license issues. There is the "tracing is OK" thing and now the "all your art belong to us" thing.
Not being a (prolific) artist myself, this doesn't effect me as much as others but... after reading the license terms I can say that I really don't like them. So, while I don't mind uploading photography stuff here, and I already have a commissioned bust of my character here, I won't be putting any other "art" up. There are just too m

So is my timing bad or what? It seems like just when I'm trying to get more engaged in the community, many of the people I would want to interact with are leaving DA because of the most recent drama - tracing being OK. I completely understand why they (artists) are upset. The administration's apparent position on the issue is that it's ok as "long as it's not the same character", which seems to be the out for the tracer to simply change something minor and make it all "OK". Personally, I agree with the artists that it's not OK. Sigh.
I guess that really means not much has changed for me then. I'm an active watcher around here still, if that m

I wanted to actually fill out my profile here as I have been a seriously long time watcher. Thought it would be nice to let people know that I am active in the community and all. And let artists know that this isn't just an empty shell of an account to vacuum up artwork.
